Local Sporting Champions set their sights high
There’s plenty of sporting talent in the Oxley electorate with 15 aspiring young athletes off to representative competitions around the country thanks to the Oxley Local Sporting Champions grant.
Each of the young people received $500 towards their sporting pursuits recently through the grant and came together for a celebratory afternoon tea hosted by local Federal MP Milton Dick.
Mr Dick was quick to praise the aspiring athletes saying “Each of the young people have put in a tremendous amount of hard work and it’s great to support them as they chase their dreams”
“It’s not easy trying to juggle studies along with sporting pursuits, so each of them should be proud already of their achievements to be selected for their representative sides”
“We should also acknowledge the incredible support shown by the parents and families of each young person, as they too put in a big effort and deserve thanks for the important role they play”.
Each of the young people submitted an application online and were selected from almost 100 applications for this round of funding.
The next round of the Local Sporting Champions grant is open now with applications closing on October 31st through the www.aussport.gov.au website
