Community eSafety Forum

27 July 2017

The Greater Springfield Community will come together on August 23rd for an eSafety Forum with local Federal Member Milton Dick MP and eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant.

The forum will provide advice and strategies to minimise the risk of cyber bullying, unwanted online contact and other threats.

Local Member Milton Dick MP said the forum would be aimed at both parents and children with information on how to stay safe online.

“In a 21st century world it has never been more important to equip children, young people and parents with the skills needed to stay safe online” said Mr Dick.

“For many children and teenagers, their online life is an important part of their social identity.

“I’m delighted to host eSafety Commisoner Julie Inman Grant who will give local parents the most up to date information on how to keep their children safe online.”

Research done by the eSafety Commission shows the need for online safety awareness for young people with 82% of 14-17 year olds active online users

The forum will be held in the lead up to National eSmart Week from 4-8 September where communities come together to encourage everyone to be smart, safe and responsible when using digital technology.

Events like the Community eSafety Forum are designed to create awareness, solutions and ideas for community education on issues of cyber safety, bullying and wellbeing online, and offline.

The Community eSafety Forum will be held at Woodcrest State College Auditorium on Wednesday 23 August from 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
