The Jindalee Jaguars AFL and Netball Club are set to receive a massive boost with Federal Member for Oxley Milton Dick MP committing $500,000 for new change room and clubhouse facilities under a Federal Labor Government.

Local Federal Member Milton Dick MP said the funding would see improved participation and facilities for not only the Jags, but also other sports in the Centenary Suburbs.

“The Jindalee Jags are a standout club in our region who have more than doubled in size during the past 4 years” said Mr Dick.

“With over 500 registered players and a hard working committee, the Jags deserve change room and club house facilities that reflect the passion and commitment of their players, parents and committee.

“This commitment will allow the club to continue to grow by providing a significant upgrade to change rooms and the clubhouse to welcome new players.

“The Jags are one of our biggest local clubs and I couldn’t be happier to back them in as they go from strength to strength.

“I’m looking forward to working with club President Mike Jackson, former President Corey Sells and the committee to support their hard work and dedication to our community”.

Jindalee Jaguars long time committee member and former President Corey Sells welcomed the announcement and said that this was a big win for the Jags and all

sports that operate from the club surroundings.

“This will make a huge impact in delivering an environment where we can support young boys and girls in their transition to becoming outstanding men and women within the Centenary Suburbs” said Mr Sells.

“Our club has grown exponentially over the past 4 seasons which has placed quite a large pressure on our existing club facilities.

“On behalf of the club I’d like to thank Milton for showing his support for the Jags and the Centenary Suburbs with this significant funding to allow our club to continue to grow”.

As well as the growth in football numbers, the club has recently completed an amalgamation with Jindalee Netball to create the JDAFNC. This amalgamation sees the club grow by a further 130 female participants who will also utilise the club facilities.

The Jags will also sublease the facility in the “football off-season” to Centenary Little

Athletics (CLA) who are also prominent users of the grounds. CLA have a current membership of 180 athletes.

Established in 1971, the Jindalee Jaguars Australian Football club today has over 600 junior and senior football and netball players and is one of the few clubs to field girls teams in Under 11’s, 13’s, 15’s, 17’s and also a senior women’s team of which are all supported by the 70 volunteers who run and administer the club.

The Jaguars pride themselves on being an inclusive community organisation by providing support to local refugee families and other community organisations such as Little Athletics and Jindalee Netball Club.
